The project is based on issues raised by more than 50 users (including teachers and students) for a doubt specific LMS platform. The goal is to identify the needs of users and their pain points. Interviews and surveys have helped to get their personal opinion about various aspects. Observations and understanding real world use cases have also helped in building the core.

Understanding the Problem

Understanding the Problem

As a consequence of the pandemic, education has drastically shifted to online platforms and resources. While traditional means were restored soon after, LMS systems continued to be an extension of learning models.

Upon looking at the tuition and coaching ecosystem in India, I realized that there is a strong demand of supplementary learning resources aided and validated by educators. This observation took a solid shape when I came in close contact with the doubt solving mechanism of an online coaching for the Common Admission Test (CAT) with an extending doubt solving system through private Facebook groups.

While entrance exam coaching and platforms cater to doubt solving as a core factor to their MO, at the level of schools and private tuitions, this aspect is still very scattered. Although students find a way to get resolutions online and through informal communications, they often require better guidance and support while self studying.

Goals

Goals

Develop a simple LMS system that;

Simplifies the process of doubt solving for students.

Provides a clear and structured setup for course material.

Enhances the overall user experience for both students

and educators.

Defining the parameters

Defining the parameters

After gathering comprehensive insights and identifying the primary needs and pain points for the LMS system users, I have developed a thorough understanding of our competitor's strengths and weaknesses.

This analysis has filtered out the target audience better and helped me understand how they navigate the process of solving doubts and accessing classroom resources.

Iterations

Iterations

Taken into consideration, the gaps in current doubt solving platforms and a necessity for most features in a unified platform, I designed doubt solving platform that ensures users can access efficient doubt solving without jumping switching different resources for each different need. This allows them to meet their study objectives through a functional LMS setup.

Sitemaps were created both for the Admins and User (for frontend). However, some additions and subtractions are still in process based on testing and application.

Wireframing and Design System

Wireframing and Design System

Sketches were made to properly understand what the platform must look like, an initiative to basic wireframing, the sketches helped understand the skeleton of all the functions. After discussing the possible UX peers, I proceed to the next step, that is, wireframing on Figma.

What’s next?

What’s next?

As the platform evolves into a potential learning service, multiple rounds of user testing and design iteration are underway. With continuous feature enhancements and a focus on a simplified, intuitive user experience, the LMS is progressing towards deployment. The system will be fully ready once both the frontend and backend integrations are complete.

What did I learn?

What did I learn?

As intended, if the platform is successful in;

  • Making doubt solving less cumbersome.

  • Easing teacher and student communications online.

  • Making learning management balanced for teachers operating at any levels,

If yes, then it’s already on the right path. More importantly, it becomes a solid prototype for a bigger idea, one that could scale into a full fledged LMS extending to online curriculums, hosting and AI generated feedback loops.

And as a matter of fact, this kind of projects are my favorite ones, it can and is teaching me more than an ideal product could have. The process of seeing this platform take shape at every decision making curve is an enriching one. While I build on the insights, there’s still a lot to explore in the edtech space.
